Wichita Mountains

Field of flowers blooming  in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife preserve, Oklahoma.
Driving to the trail head my truck was chased by a buffalo that didn't want his photo taken.

On the hike I also saw Turkey, Whitetail Deer, two large Bull Elk, and a Tarantula.

Collared Lizard

I've always wanted to see one of these lizards. I found him just a little further up the trail from the Diamondback in the previous post. This is the state lizard of Oklahoma and are also known as "Mountain Boomers". This is a male, the females are light brown.
