The road that takes you through the McCullough peaks area is dirt and in most places accessible without four wheel drive. This is the view from near the highest area the road crosses. If you take it from start to finish it is 22 miles long. The dirt road takes you through desert, rolling grass covered hills, and areas reminiscent of the badlands.
I saw deer and antelope, but did not see any of the wild mustangs known to frequent the area.
I set up on the shore line of Jackson Lake to shoot the sunset over the Tetons and then do a star trail series from the same view. After these were done I looked back to my parking spot and saw how great the Milky Way was.
After a few failed attempts to shot it with cars entering the frame partway through the shot I decided to time it so that I used the cars headlights to illuminate the treeline. I opened the shutter just before the car appeared and it clicked off just after the car disappeared.
