Seeing elk in Estes Park is kind of like seeing robins in the Spring - they are everywhere. I have become jaded to them over time and largely ignore them, however this bull is a little different. He is one of a group of six large, mature bulls that all travel together during the summer. I have seen them several times this summer right at timberline in the high country.
I've always wanted to see one of these lizards. I found him just a little further up the trail from the Diamondback in the previous post. This is the state lizard of Oklahoma and are also known as "Mountain Boomers". This is a male, the females are light brown.
